New international training centre for adaptation to climate change in LDCs

Here is IIED's announcement:

Africa Climate Change Forum in Rwanda, 10-11 September 2008

The LSE (London School of Economics and Political Science) and the Government of Rwanda are holding the Africa Climate Change Forum in Kigali, Rwanda, 10-11 September 2008. 

ACCF-logoThis is a high-level conference for "interested parties in the fields of climate change, development, human rights bringing together policy-makers, governments, academic experts, business leaders, non-governmental organisations and the media in Africa."

Among the speakers are the President of the Republic of Rwanda, His Excellency Paul Kagame, Mrs Mary Robinson, Sir Howard Davies (Director of LSE), Dr Donald Kaberuka (President, Africa Development Bank Group).

Open seminar: More than rain - How can the world’s poor cope with the changing climate?

The Norwegian Development Fund is organising a one-day Open Seminar on 09. September 2008:

More than rain: Identifying Sustainable Pathways for Climate Adaptation and Poverty Reduction

From their description of the seminar: "The Development Fund has been working with environment and development projects through Southern organisations and networks for 30 years. In relation to our 30th anniversary this year, a new report called, «More than rain – identifying sustainable pathways for climate adaptation and poverty reduction», will be launched at the seminar."
